Men's Track & Field Sets Historic Times, PR's at F&M

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Juniata men's track and field team continued the indoor portion of their 2022-23 campaign at the Mini-Dip Invitational at Franklin & Marshall on Friday evening, with a historic mark in the 300-meter race set by Lincoln Riddle and a couple of personal-bests in the 200-meter race.

Juniata competed in five track events, including the 60-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 300-meter event, 5000-meter race, and the 4x400 relay.

Lincoln Riddle's first attempt at the 300-meter event netted him the second-best time in program history, as he clocked in with a time of 37.95, finishing in 10th place out of 52 competitors.

The trio of John Redos, Zion Gomez, and Caleb Massare also took part in the 200-meter race, Redos also leading the way. He finished with a time of 25.29 for a 22nd place showing out of 40 competitors. He was followed by Massare with a time of 25.40 to finish in 24th, a new personal record in the 200-meter event. He takes 0.21 seconds out of his time set at Lehigh a week ago. Gomez clocked in at 26.18 in 32nd place, also a personal record for the event. He takes 0.53 seconds out of his time, also set last week at Lehigh.

The same three Eagles competed in the 60-meter event, as Redos posted the best time for Juniata with a 7.57 to finish in 27th place of 49 competitors, his second-best time of the year. Gomez followed in 30th place with a time of 7.70, his best time of 2022-23. Massare was right behind with a time of 7.71 to finish in 31st place, a hundredth off his personal best time.

Ellis Kline competed in the 5000-meter race for the second time in the indoor season, finishing with a time of 18:54.84.

The team of Massare, Riddle, Redos, and Gomez registered the team's first 4x400-meter time of the 2022-23 season to round out the evening for Juniata with a time of 3:47.44.

The Eagles competed in two field events, as three Eagles took on the weight throw to open the day, and one member competed in the shot put.

Barrett Walters registered a throw of 13.87 meters in the weight throw to finish the event in sixth place of the 37 competing throwers. His throw was 0.05 meters off his personal record of 13.92 meters set at Lehigh last weekend, the program's third-best mark. Brenden Nauman registered a throw of 11.97 meters on his final attempt to finish in the 18th position. It's his second-best throw of the season, and it's 1.54 meters farther than his throw last week at Lehigh. Luke Bittner rounded out the competing Eagles with a throw of 7.88 meters, finishing in 34th place.

Bitter attempted the shot put but fouled out of his three attempts.

The Eagles return to competition on Friday, February 10th with a return to Franklin & Marshall College for the Blue & White Invitational. The meet begins at 2:00 p.m.
