Multiple Top Ten Finishes Boost JC Track and Field

CARLISLE, Pa. - Juniata's track and field teams traveled to Dickinson College on Saturday, Feb. 12 for the DuCharme Indoor Invitational. The women tallied 21 points and finished in tenth place at the Invitational, while the men took home a fourth-place team finish.

WOMEN'S TOP 10 FINISHERS: Yanibel Collado earned the highest placement of the day, as she finished third in the one-mile run. The sophomore finished in 5:24.27. Freshman Claudia Sacks was right behind her, landing in fifth place with a time of 5:27.52.

In the following event, the 3000-meter run, Azia Kalil recorded a final time 11:25.44 and finished eighth. Allison Goulden then placed eighth (21:15.57) in the 5000-meter run.

Out of ten relay teams, Juniata's 4x200 meter team placed eighth. Stewart, Cosby, Freimuth and Nicholas marked a time of 1:58.89.

Sacks, Collado, Chelsea Chizmar and Stewart completed the 4x800 meter relay in 10:32.05, finishing fourth.

In the women's high jump, Katie Fisher's (Greece, N.Y./-) 1.40-meter jump tied for seventh place.

MEN'S TOP 10 FINISHERS: Conor Dimond won the 5000-meter event, finishing two seconds before his following opponent. The senior completed a final time of 16:14.71. Kevin Schofield finished third (16:19.87) in the same event.

Evan Ulrich and Ben Martin finished second and third in the 3000-meter run. Ulrich recorded a final time of 9:21.64. Martin was right behind him at 9:25.65.

Storm Fridinger placed ninth out of 36 runners in the 200-meter dash with his final time of 24.59. The sophomore then placed sixth in the following event, the 400-meter dash, with his 54.43 time.

Steven Guetzlaff took a sixth-place finish with his 4:33.77 mile run. In the same event, Ryan Bogdan, Andrew Meci and Nicholas Simpson placed tenth, 11th and 12th.

In the men's long jump, John Randolph's 6.11-meter mark put him in fifth place out of 30 eligible competitors. Nathan Chavis also took home a fifth place finish in the following event, the triple jump, for his 12.88-meter jump.

The Eagles next meet is on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the S.U. Invitational at Susquehanna.
