Eagles Soar at Juniata Invitational

HUNTINGON, Pa. - The Juniata College men's outdoor track and field team raked up four first place victories during the first meet of the 2014 season. With help from many impressive individual performances, the Eagles were very successful.  


Junior Tyler Mandley (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) placed first overall in the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. He broke his previous personal best of 16.40 in the 110m hurdles with the time of 15.86. Sophomore R.J. Bogdan (Buffalo, N.Y. / Canisius High School) placed first in the 800 with a time of 2:04.48 and sophomore Matt Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, Pa. / Parkland) had a personal best and first place finish in the 1500m run. Sophomore Jacob Krott (Temple, Pa. / Muhlenberg) finished third in the steeplechase with a time of 10:50.31. And freshman Trenton Barnes (Hopewell, Pa. / Northern Bedford) placed sixth in the 200m dash with a time of 23.71.

 

In the field, senior Justin Herr (Mountain Top, Pa. / Crestwood) finished second in the long jump and third in the triple jump. Senior Zach Doyle (Altoona, Pa. / Bellwood-Antis) placed 6th in men's hammer throw. In men's discus, sophomore Garrett Lavelle (Eden, N.Y. / Eden Jr./Sr. High School), freshman Andrew Paterno (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro), and senior Doyle placed eighth, 10th and 12th, respectively.  In the shot put, freshmen Paterno and Bryce Dupes (Elverson, Pa. / Agora Cyber Charter School) placed 4th and 5th

 

Juniata travels to Susquehanna next. They will compete in the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday, March 29th.
