Men's Tennis Lands at No. 2 on Landmark Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark coaches voted and picked Juniata second in the Landmark Conference Preseason Poll. The Eagles received 60 points with two first place votes, landing six points behind Goucher in first place.

Juniata returns majority of its successful 2016 team for the 2017 season. Last year, JC finished second in the conference with a 7-1 conference record. Two-time Landmark Player of the Year Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) leads with his veteran experience as the only senior on the team.

The Eagles started their season Saturday, Feb. 18 with a shutout victory over Stevenson. The following day, JC fell to Salisbury 8-1. Juniata's only point came from doubles partners Matyas Kohout (Prague, Czech Republic/Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) and Owen Grafe (Newton, Mass./Newton North), as they edged out their opponents 8-4. Now 1-1, Juniata will play at Gettysburg on Friday, March 24, before heading into conference play, where the Eagles look to equal or better the Landmark coaches' second-place vote.

"The top four teams in the final regular season standings qualify for postseason play in the Landmark Conference Tournament. The top two seeds will host semifinals May 2 with the highest remaining seed scheduled to host the championship May 6. The conference champion will earn the automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Tournament," per Landmark Conference.
