Men’s Tennis Defeats Stevenson

HUNTINGDON, PA- Playing in their penultimate match of the season, the Juniata men's tennis team defeated Stevenson 7-2 on Friday afternoon. The Eagles, winners of 12 straight, improve to 13-4 overall and 6-0 at Raffensberger Court.

 

Juniata won two of its three doubles matches. Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/St. Ignatius) and Matyas Kohout (Krhanice, Czech Republic/Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) improved their dual match record to 12-5 on the season at first doubles with an 8-2 win over Bryan Gieselman and Conrad Ellis. Sho Sato (Shiga, Japan/Kansai Gaidai University) and Sam Brumbaugh (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) paired up for the first time this season and won 8-1 at third doubles over Tony Beres and Nicolas Hooke.

 

Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) played at fifth singles for the first time season and defeated Beres 6-0, 6-0. Kohout and Sato won at second and third singles, respectively, by scores of 6-3, 6-2. Other winners included Polisena at first singles and Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) at fourth singles.

 

The men play their final regular season match tomorrow morning when they host Mount Aloysius. Match time will be at 9 a.m.
