Win Over Elizabethtown Moves Eagles Into First Place Tie

HUNTINGDON, PA – The Juniata men's tennis team (7-4, 4-0 Landmark) defeated Elizabethtown College (0-7, 0-2 Landmark) 8-1 Monday afternoon to move into a first place tie in Landmark standings with Goucher College (9-4, 4-0 Landmark). 

The Eagles came out strong in the doubles matches, sweeping the Blue Jays 3-0. Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia / Saint Ignatius) and Matyas Kohout (Krhanice, Czech Republic / Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) won 8-2. Sho Sato (Shiga, Japan / Kansai Gaidai University) and Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, PA / Garnet Valley) went 8-3 in their set. Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, MA / Worcester Acadmey) and Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, PA / Unionville) shut out Elizabethtown with an 8-0 win.

In the singles competitions, Polisena, Kohout, Sato, Gregory and Moore each won their sets. Sam Brumbaugh (Perkasie, PA / Pennridge) fell (1-6, 2-6) to Evan Hinkley of Elizabethtown.

On Friday, April 10, the Eagles take on Gettysburg on their home courts at 2:30pm.
