YORK, Pa. – Two more opponents fell at the hands of the Juniata College men's tennis team as the Eagles improved to 13-0 on the year. Juniata topped York College 7-2 before taking down Elizabethtown College 9-0 in the afternoon match. With five matches still to play in the 2014 season, the Eagles have already won as many matches this year as all of last season.
Freshman Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) bounced back from his first loss of the season yesterday to win both No. 1 singles matches and take No. 1 doubles with partner sophomore Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) against Elizabethtown. Moore also won both of his singles matches, at the No. 5 position to improve to 14-2.
Senior Justin Wisniewski (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and doubles partner Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa. / Garnet Valley) swept No. 2 doubles in both matches and each won No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches respectively. Wisniewski won his 13th consecutive singles match and Gregory won his seventh.
At the No. 3 doubles position, senior Elliott Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) and sophomore Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) won each of their matches 8-5 and 8-2 respectively. Perow took No. 4 singles against Elizabethtown 6-0, 6-0 and Lifshitz won both No. 6 singles in straight sets.
Juniata will return home Wednesday, April 9, at 3:30 p.m. to host Susquehanna University in a Landmark Conference match.
