FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Juniata College men's tennis team got the rare opportunity to play at the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. and took full advantage of the major stage, defeating Hunter College 6-3 and remaining unbeaten at 7-0.
Back-to-back Landmark Conference Player of the Week winners freshman Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) and sophomore Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) teamed up for the strong 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. Polisena rallied from a second set loss to claim the top singles position and Moore and extended his singles win streak to 10 with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5.
Senior Justin Wisniewski (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) pulled out the tiebreak win in his second set to earn the win at No. 2 singles. At the No. 4 singles position, sophomore Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) improved to 7-5 on the year with a 6-2, 6-0 win.
The doubles pair of senior Elliott Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Central) and sophomore Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) earned the final win of the day for the Eagles, taking No. 3 doubles handedly 8-0.
Juniata will open the 2014 home season this Monday, March 24, at 3:30 p.m. against Lycoming College.
