KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Juniata College men's tennis team improved to 2-0 in Landmark Conference play and 6-0 on the year with a 9-0 win over U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) this afternoon. The Eagles will stay on the road in New York with a matchup at Hunter College tomorrow afternoon. 

The No. 1 doubles pairing of freshman Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Austrailia/Saint Ignatius) and reigning Landmark Player of the Week sophomore Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) battled hard for the 8-5 win at the top position. Polisena claimed No, 1 singles 6-1, 6-0 and Moore won his singles draw at the No. 5 position 6-0, 6-2.

At No. 2 doubles sophomore Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) and senior Justin Wisniewski (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) combined for their ninth win over the year. Gregory bounced back from a loss last weekend in Washington, D.C. to claim the No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-0. Playing in the No. 3 position, Wisniewski thoroughly handled his match for the 6-0, 6-1 win.

Senior Elliott Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Central) moved up to No. 2 singles and earned his seventh singles win of the season, extending his winning streak to six matches. He teamed up with sophomore Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) for the 8-1 victory in the final doubles spot. Lifshitz capped off the match for the Eagles with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.

The Eagles will return home to open the 2014 season on Raffensperger courts Monday, March 24, against Lycoming College at 3:30 p.m.
