Women's Volleyball Claims Numerous All-ECAC Accolades

DANBURY, Conn.- The Juniata women's volleyball team collected numerous accolades as the ECAC announced the 2022 Division III Women's Volleyball All-ECAC teams and major awards. Middle blocker Mackenzie Coley won Offensive Player of the Year, outside hitter Audrey Muth won Rookie of the Year, and Heather Pavlik was named Coach of the Year. Coley is joined on the All-ECAC First Team by setter Olivia Foley and opposite hitter Lily Podolan.  

Mackenzie Coley becomes the second All-ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, succeeding Marybeth Weihbrecht, who earned the honor in 2018. By also placing on the ECAC's First-Team, Coley is the 13th Eagle to place on an All-ECAC team. was also named to the AVCA All-America First Team for the first time in her career after being named AVCA Region V Player of the Year and placing on the All-Region First Team. She earned the 50th First-Team Certificate for the program, is the 32nd player to place on the First Team, and became the 46th player to place as an All-American for the Eagles. Coley was also named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week for women's volleyball twice this season (9-20, 10-10). Coley had the Landmark Conference's best-hitting percentage at .389, the 14th-best hitting percentage in DIII volleyball. She collected 305 kills, 28 aces, 26 digs, and a team-high 89 total blocks and 0.79 per set, the third-best rate in the Landmark Conference. She was named to the All-Tournament Team in the NCAA Tournament, posting a .321 hitting percentage, 32 kills, three solo blocks, six block assists, and three digs across the Elite Eight, Final Four, and Championship Game. Coley placed on the All-Tournament Team for the Huntingdon, Pa. Regional of the NCAA DIII Women's Volleyball Tournament after posting 27 kills, a .489 hitting percentage, three solo blocks, and ten block assists. She made the All-Landmark Conference First Team while also being named the Conference's Player of the Year. She was named MVP of the Landmark Conference Championship Tournament with 28 kills, one ace, a .434 hitting percentage, and four block assists. Academically, Coley was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America and Academic All-District Teams. 

Audrey Muth becomes the first Eagle to earn ECAC DIII Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Year honors.  Muth earned AVCA All-Region V Honorable Mention status and Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year. She succeeded setter Olivia Foley and Emma Davis, who earned the past two Regional Freshman of the Year awards for Region V. Muth also earned Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year honors while placing on the Landmark's All-Conference Second Team. The outside hitter has collected 315 total kills, the second-most on the team. She also totaled 68 digs, 48 blocks, and one assist. 

Head coach Heather Pavlik picked up her fourth total ECAC Coach of the Year Award and her second All-ECAC Coach of the Year honor. She was also named AVCA Region V Coach of the Year, previously earning honors in 2013 and 2018, and she earned her sixth Landmark Conference Coach of the Year Award. Under her leadership, the 2022 Eagles have claimed their 3rd national championship and her first as the program's head coach. They also earned the program's 15th consecutive Landmark Conference title and 41st consecutive Conference Championship (including championships in the MAC prior to 2007). The team ended 2022 with a 34-1 record with 27 consecutive victories. The Eagles claimed an NCAA tournament Championship, sweeping Trinity (Tex.) in straight sets (25-17, 25-11, 25-23). In the tournament, Juniata dropped only two sets across six matches. Juniata was a leader in several statistical categories within NCAA DIII Volleyball with the best winning percentage (.971), the second-best hitting percentage (.272), the second-most kills per set (13.99), the third-lowest opponent hitting percentage (.071), and the sixth-most assists per set (12.74). 

Olivia Foley earns her second All-ECAC team honor as she earned a spot on the first team, placing on the lone All-ECAC team named in 2021. She was named to the AVCA All-American Second Team for the second consecutive season. She earned the 23rd Second Team certificate for Juniata. She was also named to the All-Region V Team for the second consecutive season after collecting Regional Freshman of the Year honors in 2021. Foley placed on the Landmark Conference First Team for the second consecutive season and won Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week on October 24th. She holds the fourth-best rate for assists per set rate (10.78) in DIII volleyball while also leading the conference in that figure. She has collected 981 assists, 65 kills, 26 aces, 235 digs, and 18 blocks. As a setter, she contributed to an offense that posted the second-best hitting percentage in DIII volleyball at .272. She was the MVP of the NCAA Championship, consisting of the Elite Eight, Final Four, and Championship Game at Duquesne University. In Pittsburgh, she collected 128 assists, seven kills with a .261 hitting percentage, two aces, and 38 digs. She was also named MVP for the Huntingdon, Pa. Regional of the NCAA DIII Women's Volleyball tournament after posting 104 assists, 11 kills, a .429 hitting percentage, three aces, 12 digs, and a block assist.

Lily Podolan becomes the 14th player to place on an All-ECAC team as she placed on the All-ECAC Division III Women's Volleyball First Team. She also was named an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention. Podolan also placed on the All-Region First Team for Region V. She placed on the Landmark Conference All-Conference First Team for the first time and was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week on October 3rd. She had the third-best hitting percentage in the Landmark Conference (.319), the fourth-highest kills per set in the conference (3.33), a team-high 353 kills, three assists, 49 digs, and 49 total blocks. She was named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament team, totaling 41 kills, a .319 hitting percentage, nine block assists, and eight digs across the Elite Eight, Final Four, and Championship Game at Duquesne University. Academically, Podolan was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District Team.
