Women's Volleyball to Take on Hope in National Quarterfinals Wednesday at 8:00 PM at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The #2 Juniata College women's volleyball team has been seeded first heading into the national quarterfinals, where they will face off against eighth-seeded, 24-7, ranked 20th in the America Volleyball Coaches Association coaches poll Hope College in the NCAA Division III national quarterfinals on Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Pittsburgh.

The 8 p.m. match at Duquesne University's UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse will be the final match of the first day of the NCAA Division III Championships.

The winner of the Juniata-Hope match advances to the national semifinals (Final 4) on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. The national championship match is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m.

Wednesday's other quarterfinal matches feature: 28-4 third-seeded Trinity University vs. 27-5 sixth-seeded Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at 12:30 p.m., 28-6 second-seeded New York University (NYU) vs. 28-5 seventh-seeded Transylvania University at 3 p.m., and 24-7 fourth-seeded Johns Hopkins University vs. 33-2 fifth-seeded University of Northwestern St.-Paul at 5:30 p.m 

This is Juniata's 32nd appearance in the national quarterfinals and the third time in four years.   

Juniata heads into the quarterfinals 31-1, having won the Huntingdon, Pa. Regional this past weekend and their 41st consecutive (15 straight Landmark) conference championship the week before.  

The Eagles are 2-1 all-time vs. Hope, although the Flying Dutch emerged victorious the last time these teams met, back in 2014. They faced off in the second round of the NCAA tournament, where Hope engineered a reverse sweep to win 3-2. Hope went on to win the national championship that season. 

Head coach Heather Pavlik has led Juniata to three appearances in the Elite 8. Pavlik's career record is 308-68 in her 12th season as head coach at her alma mater.
