Eagles Soar Past Spartans, Pioneers On Senior Day

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The #2 Juniata women's volleyball team picked up a pair of wins against Smith and York as they honored their seniors on Senior Night, Saturday, inside Memorial Gymnasium on day two of the Wid Guisler Invitational.

Against Smith, the Eagles dominated the opening set, pulling away with the score at 11-9 on the strength of a 5-0 rally that featured four kills from Kennedy Christy and an ace from Kiona Sky Rousset-Hernandez. An Olivia Foley kill ended up ending set one, 25-12. 

In set two, the Pioneers stuck around as they used a 5-0 rally midway through the set to make it 17-17. The Eagles countered with kills from Lily Podolan, Mackenzie Coley, and Olivia Foley, along with an ace from McKenna Walker, made it 21-17. Juniata fended off Smith the rest of the way, taking set two 25-21 on a kill from Podolan.  

The third set saw the Eagles hit a robust .455 as they cruised to a 25-10 win in set three to take the match. 

Against York, the Eagles used a late run in the first set to get over the hump. With the score at 19-15, Audrey Muth put down a kill, and Courtney Williams and Foley combined for a block before three straight errors from the Spartans handed JC set point. Three points later, Foley notched a kill to take set one. 

Set two featured a monstrous 9-0 run from the Eagles. With the score at 14-9, JC got kills from Brianne Carmody, Coley, and Lexy Bloss, along with two Walker aces and several errors by the Spartans. An ace from Aly Reardon took set two for JC, 25-11. 

The Eagles took set three in a landslide as they led by as many as 15 on their way to a 25-7 win to win their 16th match in a row. 

Foley was named Wid Guisler Invitational Tournament MVP, while Coley and Rousset-Hernandez joined her on the all-tournament team.
