Women's Volleyball Wins 11th Straight, Moves to 4-0 in the Landmark

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The #3 Juniata women's volleyball team picked up their fourth Landmark Conference win of the year as they won on the road at Elizabethtown, 3-1 (25-10, 18-25, 25-17, 25-11), Wednesday evening inside Thompson Gymnasium. 

The first set was complete domination from the Eagles as they hit .457 with 19 kills; they took the first 10 points of the match, led by six kills from Lily Podolan. The Blue Jays could not stop Juniata as they cruised for a 25-10 win in the opener. 

The second set saw the teams trade runs as the Blue Jays scored six of the first seven points of the match. The Eagles countered, scoring nine of the next 11 to hold a 10-9 lead. Two more exchanges of rallies saw the Eagles within one at 17-18. But Juniata did not score again as Etown closed the match on a 7-0 run.  

Set three saw Juniata open the set with kills from Aly Reardon and Mackenzie Coley and an ace from Kiona Sky Rousset-Hernandez paired with a Blue Jay error as they led 4-0. The lead would balloon to as many as ten at 16-6 before Elizabethtown cut the lead in half at 22-17. Following a JC timeout, Audrey Muth tallied a kill, Abbey Telesz served up an ace, and Podolan ended the set with a kill of her own, 25-17. 

The Eagle offense had another efficient showing in the final set as they hit .344, while Etown hit -.031 to close the match as Juniata took set four 25-11. 

Podolan hit .438 with 19 kills, nine digs, and five block assists, while Coley had 15 kills while hitting .423 with four block assists. Telesz had a career-high 50 assists to go with a career-best 19 digs, an ace, and a block assist. 

Juniata is back at it this Friday when they will take on Randolph-Macon at 1:30 pm and Bridgewater (Va.) at 4:00 pm at the Bridgewater Invitational.
