Eagles Nab Pair of Conference Wins as they Sweep Susquehanna & Drew

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The #4 ranked Juniata women's volleyball team picked up a pair of Landmark Conference victories as they swept Susquehanna 3-0 (25-20, 25-10, 25-7) and Drew 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-11) Saturday afternoon at Fran Murray Court.

In the first match against Susquehanna, the opening set was close as Juniata edged out a 25-20 win as they hit .111. From there, the Eagles completely dominated the match as they hit .458 in the set two 25-10 win and .400 in the 25-7 third set victory to end the match. 

Audrey Muth had a match-high 13 kills while hitting .321 with three digs. Lily Podolan added ten kills while hitting .474 with two block assists. Kennedy Christy tallied nine kills, two assists, three aces, and eight digs, while Mackenzie Coley chipped in with four kills, four aces, and a block assist. Kiona Sky Rousset-Hernandez amassed 22 digs, three assists, and four aces, while Olivia Foley had 32 assists, an ace, a kill, and six digs. 

In the day's second match, the Rangers jumped out to a 3-5 lead. From there, two errors from the Rangers, two Christy aces, two kills from Coley, and finally, two more Christy aces made it 11-5. The Eagle lead expanded to as much as 10, with the Rangers cutting it back down to five at 17-12. Two Ranger errors, kills from Podolan and Courtney Williams, and a pair of Sydney Ohl aces made it 23-12. JC committed an attack error, but Drew committed a service error to give Juniata a set point. Rousset-Hernandez ended things with an ace, 25-12. 

The second set saw the Eagles blow the set open with a 13-1 run midway through, but the Rangers managed to narrow the gap to five at 23-18. It was too late as the teams traded points the rest of the way as Juniata won on a kill from Aly Reardon. 

The third set opened with Juniata soaring out to a 12-4 advantage, and they never looked back as they cruised to a 25-11 win. 

Juniata served the ball exceptionally well as they had 18 aces in the match, one off the conference record. 

The Eagles will continue their run of conference play as they host Catholic this Wednesday at 7:00.
