Eagles Sweep Twice to Close Out the Weekend

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The Juniata women's volleyball team picked up a pair of wins Saturday with two sweeps as they won 25-10, 25-12, 25-13 against Hollins before defeating Wisconsin Oshkosh 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-20) in the Freeman Center.

Mackenzie Coley was named tournament MVP while Lily Podolan and Kiona Sky Rousset-Hernandez joined her on the all-tournament team. 

In the Wisconsin Oshkosh match, Juniata opened the match on a 12-3 run and never looked back as they powered themselves to a 25-16 set one win.

Set two went forward in a similar vain, with the score at 6-4 Juniata blew it wide open. Two errors by the Titans and a kill from Coley made it 9-4. Coley put down another kill and Aly Reardon followed with an ace and an Olivia Foley kill. Juniata soared through the rest of the set, winning 25-13.

The third set saw the Titans roar out to a 4-10 lead, but the Eagles responded quickly. Three kills from Reardon, two from Coley, an ace from McKenna Walker and some errors from Oshkosh brought the Eagles back into the lead at 13-10. The teams went back and forth, with the Titans going back up 15-17. Reardon tallied a kill, Foley got an ace, Audrey Muth got a kill of her own before Coley got a solo block. With the score at 20-19, Juniata took five of the next six points with Coley getting the match-winning kill, 25-20. 

Juniata will play against Ithaca at home this Friday at 7:00 inside Memorial Gymnasium.
