Foley Named Region 5 Freshman of the Year, Taylor, Rousset-Hernandez & Erskine Named All-Region

LEXINGTON, Ky.- Olivia Foley (Coldwater, Mich / Coldwater HS) was named AVCA Region 5 Freshman of the Year and was joined on the All-Region team by Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy), Kiona Sky Rousset-Hernandez (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico / Colegio Bautista de Carolina HS) and Grace Erskine (Mooresville, N.C. / Community School of Davidson).  

Foley picks up another major award after receiving Landmark Rookie of the Year honors earlier in the week. She leads the conference in assists per set at 10.51, which is the ninth-best mark in the country. She is the ninth Juniata women's volleyball player to earn AVCA Regional Freshman of the Year honors. 

Taylor, who is making her fourth appearance on the AVCA All-Region team, was second in the conference in kills per set (3.80), third in hitting percentage (.322), and tied for eighth in total kills (270). She was also named Landmark Conference Championship MVP after helping the Eagles win their 40th consecutive conference championship and 14th straight Landmark Championship after defeating Scranton 3-0 this past Saturday. 

Rousset-Hernandez adds to her growing list of accolades, following her selection to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team earlier in the week at the libero position. She finished third in the conference in total digs (477) and digs per set (5.30). The Eagles as a team currently rank 32nd in the country in digs per set at 18.45.  

Erskine received honorable mention honors after being named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team on Tuesday. She was second in the conference in hitting percentage at .352 and eighth in total blocks at 60. Erskine was a part of a defense that ranked second in the country in opponent hitting percentage at .078.  

The Eagles, currently on a 27-game winning streak, will take on Gallaudet in the first round of the NCAA Tournament tomorrow at 3:00 pm on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology.
