Women's Volleyball Wins 23rd Straight, Defeats Gophers

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The #9 Juniata women's volleyball team cruised past visiting Landmark foe Goucher, 3-0 (25-6, 25-6, 25-10), Wednesday evening inside Memorial Gymnasium.

Juniata took the first four points on kills from Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy), Lily Podolan (Columbus, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne), Aly Reardon (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West HS), and a bad set by the Gophers. The Eagles didn't let up, with the score at 6-3, they went on another 5-0 run with Reardon putting down three straight kills following an ace from McKenna Walker (York, Pa. / York Catholic) and a kill from Mackenzie Coley (Norco, Calif. / Norco HS). Juniata wound up winning set one on a block by Podolan and Courtney Williams (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone Area HS), 25-6.

The second set was more of the same, with Juniata embarking on an 11-0 run to blow the set wide open following a kill from Olivia Everett (Grove City, Ohio / Central Crossing HS) to make it 18-3. Juniata won the set 25-6 on a service error.

The third set saw the Gophers get within six at 13-7 before Juniata scored six straight to get some breathing room. JC held the Gophers to three more points the rest of the match as they won on a kill from Emma Pinkston (Paris, Ill. / Paris HS), 25-10.

The victory is the 23rd in a row for Juniata.

The Eagles will close the regular season with a pair of conference matches at Elizabethtown this Saturday. They will play Scranton, who is currently tied for third in the Landmark at 1:30. They will then take on Elizabethtown, who is also 5-0 in conference, in play at 6:30.
