WASHINGTON, D.C.- The #11 Juniata women's volleyball team picked up another win in the nation's capital as they beat Catholic, 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-15), Wednesday evening at Franny Murray Court.
The Eagles hit a blistering .737 with 14 kills as they completely dominated the opening set, 25-13.
The second set was a tighter affair, with the Cardinals pulling within one at 14-13. A service error, a block by Aly Reardon (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West HS) and Mackenzie Coley (Norco, Calif. / Norco HS), two kills from Reardon, an attack error, and an ace from McKenna Walker (York, Pa. / York Catholic)made it 20-13. The Eagles would eventually win on a kill from Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy).
In the third set, with the score at 6-5, Juniata used a 5-0 run and never looked back. Lexy Bloss (Dallastown, Pa. / Dallastown Area HS) tallied a kill, Taylor had two in a row before Moira Folan (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Oakland Catholic HS) and Grace Erskine (Mooresville, N.C. / Community School of Davidson) combined for two straight blocks to make it 11-5. The Cardinals never got closer than six the rest of the way.
The Eagles return to action at home this Friday evening against Christopher Newport at 7:00.
