Eagles Cruise Past Greyhounds, Rangers as Taylor Crosses 1000 Kill Mark

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The women's volleyball team picked up two victories as they swept Moravian and Drew in Landmark Conference competition Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium. 

The Eagles completely dominated the opening set against Moravian by hitting .600 while smashing 19 kills to win 25-8. The fourth point of the set was the second kill of the match by Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy), which pushed her across the 1000 kill plateau.   

The second set saw JC open on an 8-0 run and never look back as they dominated the second set to the tune of 25-11. 

The Greyhounds managed to hang around early, pulling within four at 12-8, but Juniata took control from that point, only allowing the visitors to muster another four points as JC won 25-12 to take their first match of the day. 

Taylor led the way with 10 kills (.526), six digs, and two block assists, while Emma Pinkston (Paris, Ill. / Paris HS) amassed seven kills and four digs.

Juniata closed the day by dominating Drew in the first (25-11) and third (25-6) set, but in the second one (25-21), the Rangers gave them a little trouble. JC hit .538 and .476 in the first and third sets, respectively.  

Kennedy Christy (Saxonburg, Pa. / Knoch HS) had 12 kills (.440), three aces, and five digs, while Taylor tallied 12 kills (.522), two digs, and a solo block. Mackenzie Coley (Norco, Calif. / Norco HS) notched seven kills (.500), three digs, a solo block, and a block assist while Olivia Foley (Coldwater, Mich / Coldwater HS)led the offense to the tune of 35 assists, four kills, three aces, and 10 digs. 

The Eagles return to action this Wednesday when they take on Landmark rival Susquehanna at 7:00.
