Women's Volleyball Wins Eighth in a Row at Messiah

MECHANICSBURG, Pa.- The #11 Juniata women's volleyball team won 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-16) at Messiah on the opening night of the Messiah Invitational inside Hitchcock Arena Friday evening. 

The Eagles had to grind out wins in the first two sets, winning them by a combined six points before cruising in the third 25-19, as they hit .286. That was their best hitting percentage in a set in the match. 

Kennedy Christy (Saxonburg, Pa. / Knoch HS) led the way for the Eagles with 11 kills while hitting .588 to go along with an ace and eight digs. Mackenzie Coley (Norco, Calif. / Norco HS) tallied seven kills while hitting .364 to go with two digs and a block assist, Aly Reardon (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West HS) totaled eight kills, six digs, and two block assists while Olivia Foley (Coldwater, Mich / Coldwater HS) added 22 assists, three aces, and two digs. Kiona Sky Rousset-Hernandez (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico / Colegio Bautista de Carolina HS) led the team in digs with 14 to go with her two aces and an assist while Lily Podolan (Columbus, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne) chipped in with six kills. 

Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) played in her first set since the opening weekend and tallied five kills and two digs. She now sits 17 kills away from 1000 in her career.  

Juniata will play two matches tomorrow as they take on Mary Washington at 12:00 and Brockport at 2:00.
