Eagles Best Knights

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's volleyball team started their Saturday morning off with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-13) win over Arcadia on day two of the Asics Invitational.

The Eagles took eight of the first twelve points as they dominated the opening set of the match. They hit .485 with 17 kills as Arcadia had no answers for stopping the Eagles as they cruised to a 25-11 win.

The second set was more of the same as JC went on a 6-0 run early to make it 8-2, highlighted by two kills from Aly Reardon (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West HS) and a Kiona Sky Rousset Hernandez (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico / Colegio Bautista de Carolina HS) service ace. A 5-0 surge later, made up of three kills by Brianne Carmody (Midlothian, Va. / James River) along with a kill apiece from Emma Pinkston (Paris, Ill. / Paris HS) and Lily Podolan (Columbus, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne), made it 21-9. A kill from Mackenzie Coley (Norco, Calif. / Norco HS) ended set two, 25-13.

Juniata was relentless, and in the third set, with the score at 6-5, they pulled away one last time. Another 6-0 rally from the Eagles, which had an ace from Reardon and a kill from Coley combined with four Knight errors, made it 13-6. JC cruised from there, with Foley smashing a ball down at the net to end the match, 25-13.

Juniata will close the weekend by taking on F&M this evening at 6:30.
