TOWSON, Md.- For the first time in her career, Olivia Barbacci was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week for field events following her strong weekend after setting a new program record in the pole vault and earning an event victory in the high jump.
Barbacci's pole vault mark of 3.18 meters earned a three-place result at the Mini-Dip Invitational at Franklin & Marshall, while it also now stands as the program's best mark as she cleared the 3.05-meter mark set by Stephanie Varner at the 2008 Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Susquehanna.
She won her second high jump event of the season with a mark of 1.62 meters, setting a new personal best in the process. She improved 0.02 off her previous best, set at the Moravian Indoor Meet at Lehigh earlier this month. She still holds the third-best mark in program history.
The Juniata women's track and field team returns to competition next Friday, February 9th, as they head back to Franklin & Marshall for the Blue & White Invitational.
