Women's Track & Field Competes at F&M Mini-Dip Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Juniata women's track and field team continued its indoor season with the first of two stops at Franklin & Marshall College for the Mini-Dip Invitational on Friday evening. 

Juniata competed in four track events including the 60-meter dash, the 200-meter race, the 300-meter event, and the 600-meter race. 

Olivia Barbacci and Ashley Alfree competed in the 60-meter dash. Barbacci clocked in with a time of 8.84 to finish in 24th place out of 32 competitors. Alfree clocked in with a time of 9.52 to finish in 29th place. They each set their first 60-meter time at the collegiate level.  

Alfree also ran in the 200-meter race, finishing the event with a time of 32.09 for a 32nd-place showing in her second attempt at the event.  

Barbacci and Rebecca Christophel took part in the 300-meter race. Barbacci finished in eighth place of the 31 competitors with a time of 45.49, 0.13 seconds off her personal best and the program's second-best time in the event set a week ago at Lehigh. Christophel clocked in with a time of 48.92 to finish in the 20th spot.  

Christophel also ran in the 600-meter event for the second time this season, registering a time of 1:48.65 to finish in 11th place, with 21 total competing in the 600-meter race. 

The Eagles competed in two field events, including the pole vault and high jump.  

Barbacci and Alfree each took part in the pole vault. Barbacci cleared 2.73 meters on her second attempt to finish in 8th place of the 14 competing. Alfree was unable to clear 2.28 meters in her three attempts. 

Alfree also attempted the high jump but could not hit a mark of 1.35 meters. 

The Eagles return to competition on Friday, February 10th, with a return to Franklin & Marshall College for the Blue & White Invitational. The meet begins at 2:00 p.m.
