Women's Track and Field Returns to Action at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Juniata women's track and field team returned to competition at Saturday's Moravian-hosted invite at Lehigh University's Rauch Fieldhouse. 

On the track, Juniata competed in the 200-meter and 400-meter events. 

Two Eagles took part in the 200-meter race, as Rebecca Christophel led for Juniata with a time of 30.25 to finish 29th overall in her first 200-meter race. She was followed by Ashley Alfree, whose time of 32.75 put her in 44th. 

Two Eagles raced in the 400-meter race, as Christophel led the way with a 1:06.62 mark to finish in 21st place out of 47 runners. Olivia Barbacci followed closely with a 1:08.17 time to finish in 25th place to register her first 400-meter time for Juniata.  

The Eagles also participated in two field events, with a pair competing in the pole vault and one Eagle competing in the high jump.  

Barbacci placed 16th exceeding 2.74 meters on her second attempt of the pole vault, staying at third in program history with her 2.90-meter jump at Houghton in December staying as her personal best. Alfree followed in 20th place as she exceeded the 2.44-meter mark for a new personal best and the sixth-best mark in program history.  

Alfree also took part in the high jump, as she tied for 13th place out of 19 competitors with a 1.33-meter jump.  

The Juniata women's track and field team returns to action this Friday, January 27th, as they head to Franklin & Marshall College for the Mini-Dip Invitational.
