Vogt Joins Historic Company During Day One of Messiah Invite

MECHANICSBURG, Pa.- The men and women of the Juniata track & field teams traveled to Messiah College on Friday to begin the first of two days competing in the 2022 Messiah Invitational. The Eagles had representatives in multiple events on Friday, with Nandee Correia (Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg) competing in the Women's Discus Throw while Barrett Walters (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata) participated in the Men's. They were followed by Ellis Kline (Corvallis, Ore. / Corvallis), who ran in the Men's 10,000 Meters Run, while Emily Vogt (Fairfield, Conn. / Fairfield Warde) ran in the Women's 10,000 Meters.

Vogt would produce the standout performance of the day, taking fifth place in the 10,000 meters while posting a career-best time of 39:39.46. The time is also the fourth-best in Juniata history in the event, an incredible achievement for Vogt as only a sophomore. Her distance-running counterpart on the men's side Kline earned a 10th place finish with his time of 36:58.94.

Correia placed 13th in a highly competitive discus field, with her best distance being 27.72m. Walters claimed a 13th place of his own in the men's event, throwing 32.17m.

The action will continue tomorrow, with events taking place throughout the day and more Eagles scheduled to compete. They'll begin at 9:00 AM.
