SCRANTON, Pa.- The Juniata women's team opened their season with a 9-0 defeat on the road at Marywood, Sunday afternoon.
Kady Lohr (Shanksville, Pa.) and Marilyn Ogof (Lake Ariel, Pa.) fell 8-5 at first doubles, Mia Kazakavage (Lewisburg, Pa./) and Courtney Eller (Colver, Pa. / Central Cambria) lost at second doubles 8-2 while Olivia Day (Duncansville, Pa.) and Selam Tadesse (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia) dropped an 8-0 decision at third doubles.
Eller fell 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles, Day dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at fifth singles, while Ogof lost 6-0, 6-2 at second singles. Kazakavage came up short at third singles, 6-2, 6-0, and Lohr lost a tough match at first singles, 6-4, 6-3.
The Eagles return to action Wednesday on the road at Albright, starting at 4:00.
