Gophers Shutout Eagles

Gophers Shutout Eagles

TOWSON, Md. – The women's soccer team traveled to Goucher on Saturday to take on the Gophers. Despite besting Goucher in shots 7-6, the Eagles fell 1-0.

Goucher scored in the first half to get a goal on the board early. The Eagles spent the rest of the game looking for a goal.  Juniata saw shots from many Eagles throughout the match. Talia Bertrando (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick High School) had a chance in the first half off a ball that was punched away by the Gopher goalie, but the goalie was too quick.

In the second half, Collen O'Brien (Collegeville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) took a hit right outside the box, but the Goucher goalie fell on the ball.

Cati Besch (Bellefonte, Pa. / Bellefonte Area HS) and Avery Zales (Montoursville, Pa. / Montoursville Area HS) split time in net. Zales made three saves in the second half to prevent the Gophers from getting another ball in the net.

The Eagles compete against Pitt-Bradford on Tuesday, October 26, for a 3:00 pm start time.
