Drummond, Stevens, Gibbs and Yeager Lead Eagles Past Blazers

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's lacrosse team scored ten straight to open the game as the Eagles won handily against Hood College, 22-3, to open up play at Gibbel Stadium on a wet Saturday afternoon.

Juniata dominated the first quarter, and Elayna Stubbe scored the first goal of the game. Juniata was a woman down when Grace Gibbs tacked on another as the Eagles continued to attack, still down a player. Kelliann Drummond scored and later assisted a pair of Kyndall Yeager goals. Gibbs and Peyton Goodrich each added a goal while Skyler Stevens struck on a free position shot and off a Goodrich assist in the final minute of the quarter as JC led 9-0 after one.

Shannon Para knifed through the Blazer defense a few minutes into the second to get into the scorebook. Hood scored their first of the day, but Stevens answered with two more goals to give JC a running clock again. Gibbs found the back of the net on a free position shot as the Eagles led 13-1 at the break.

The Eagles won the second half 9-2 to get the win.

Sarah Hepburn assisted a Para goal in the third, while Gwen DeLeva added a pair of assists in the fourth.

Stevens had a career-high five goals in the win, while Caoilinn Heatley made four saves in goal to get the win for the Eagles. Drummond tied a career-high in points on the day as she tallied three goals, three assists, and a ground ball. Gibbs added four goals, an assist, five ground balls, five draw controls, and two caused turnovers on the day.

Juniata will host the 1-4 Albright Lions on Wednesday at 4:00.
