Drummond's Career Day Leads Eagles Past Blue Jays

Drummond's Career Day Leads Eagles Past Blue Jays

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA. The Juniata women's lacrosse team scored the first eight goals as they powered past Elizabethtown College, 18-4, Saturday afternoon at Wolf Field.

Kelliann Drummond tallied three goals and three assists to go with one draw control, and her six points are a career-high. Grace Gibbs netted four goals with an assist, three ground balls, five draw controls, and five caused turnovers. Peyton Goodrich totaled two goals, two assists, two ground balls, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Shannon Para added two goals and an assist, while Kyndall Yeager contributed two goals and an assist to go with one ground ball. Skyler Stevens chipped in with two goals, while Michaela Naccarini, Gwen DeLeva, and Shayla Lapp scored a goal apiece. Maeve Kuser was a menace defensively, with five caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Chloe Gerhard made nine saves in goal for Juniata to get the win.

Goodrich scored the opener on a free position shot to open the scoring 25 seconds into the game. Naccarini found the back of the net 21 seconds later to double the Eagle lead. Stevens scored off a pass from Drummond, Gibbs scored twice 15 seconds apart, with the second assisted by Yeager, and Drummond added her first of the game as the Eagles led 6-0 after one.

Goodrich set up Para for the first goal of the second, and the Drummond to Stevens connection proved fruitful again as Stevens beat the keeper for her second to increase the Eagle lead to 8-0. The Blue Jays scored three goals around DeLeva's free position goal to get back within six at 9-3 with under nine minutes to go in the half. Goals from Goodrich, Drummond, Gibbs, and Yeager sent JC into the locker room with a 13-3 lead.

Juniata outscored the hosts 5-1 in the second half to get their second conference win of the year.

The 14-goal margin is the largest in program history for a Landmark Conference win.

The Eagles will host Moravian next Saturday at 1:00 and will honor their seniors prior to the start of the game.
