Rangers Roll Past Eagles

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's basketball team lost to visiting Drew University, 65-44, to open Landmark Conference play Saturday afternoon inside Memorial Gymnasium. 

The Rangers scored the game's first nine points over the first three and half minutes before Sarah Betts drilled a jumper off a pass from Emily McCann. Emelie Nonemaker found Kynnedy Miller for a three, which made it 13-5. Drew tacked on two more buckets as the Eagles trailed 17-5 after one. 

The teams traded buckets to start the second as Steph Emert drilled a three from the top of the key; Betts found Haily Sherman for a jumper before Emert found Sherman again on the left corner for a three to make it 25-13 midway through the second. Olivia Berg drove inside amongst the Drew forwards and scored through contact to cut the deficit to 12 again at 27-15. The Eagles trailed 31-15 at the half. 

The Rangers narrowly outscored the Eagles in the second half, 34-29, to close the game. The Eagles put together a big fourth as they tallied 21 points, with Bri Bodtorf scoring 11 of them. 

Bodtorf led the team in scoring with 13 points to go with three rebounds and three steals. Sherman tallied 11 points, four rebounds, and four steals, while Emma Coolidge contributed four points, eight rebounds, and two assists on the day. 

The Eagles are on a break until after finals, when they host Bethany on Saturday, December 17, at 2:00 pm
