Eagles Shooting Goes Cold in the Nation's Capitol

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Juniata women's basketball team traveled to Washington D.C. to take on Catholic on Wednesday night, which landed on National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The Cardinals took off early in the first half to secure their 70-39 win over the Eagles. 

The Eagles ended the first half with 15 points. They did not score double digits baskets in a quarter until the fourth when they ended the game hot with 15 points. Grace Long (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin HS) and Averie Hess (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore HS) put up back-to-back points to keep the Eagles competitive. Sarah Betts (Hawk Run, Pa. / West Branch Area HS) added a layup while Aleya Eisenberg (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring HS) hit a three to push the score to 23 for the Eagles. Haily Sherman (Marysville, Pa. / Susquenita HS) wrapped up the game with the last free throw of the game to put up two more. 

Long led the team with eight points while Sherman trailed behind her with seven. The women will play against Susquehanna this Saturday set for a tip-off time of 4:00 pm.
