Eagles Fall at Home

Eagles Fall at Home

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The women's basketball team hosted the Catholic Cardinals on Wednesday night resulting in a tough loss for the Eagles, 79-43.

Juniata had many shining moments throughout the game both defensively and offensively but an aggressive Catholic defense challenged the Eagles throughout the game. Juniata's defense shifted into gear after recognizing the pressure Catholic would be putting on them all game. This allowed only nine points for the Cardinals in the second quarter.

Steph Emert (Hoovesville, Pa. / North Star HS) had two back-to-back swats away from the Cardinal's hand while going up for points. Small gritty plays are what shined for the Eagles tonight. Taylor Vrabel (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg HS) was a driving force for the Eagles going 6-6 both under the basket and stepping back from it. Vrabel's teammates found her and fed her great passes for her to put up 12 points tonight.

Aleya Eisenberg (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring HS) saw minutes for the Eagles and within the next couple of seconds, found the three-line easily to put up three for the Eagles. Kynnedy Miller (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS) found her grove at the three-point line as well by putting up back-to-back threes in the fourth quarter.

Averie Hess (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore HS) tallied eight points while Grace Long (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin HS) put up six.

The Eagles will travel to Drew this Saturday the 22nd for game-time at 4:00 pm.
