McDonald Named Landmark Defensive Player of the Year

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Senior Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) was voted Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year, the league announced Wednesday.  This is the second time in three years she has garnered the honor and it is her third player of the year award.

 

"Any award she gets, she's well deserving of it," said head coach Danny Young-Uhrich of McDonald.  "It's good to see that she get's recognized for the defensive end because I know that's what she takes pride in."

 

Named to a Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District team, McDonald also earned first-team all-conference honors for the third consecutive year, marking the fourth all-conference selection of her career.   She ranks nationally in seven different categories and leads the league in steals per game, rebounds per game and double-doubles.  This season, she recorded six 20-point performances and averaged over 15 points and 10 rebounds per game.

 

The 5-10 forward started every game and has over 1,400 career points and over 1,070 career rebounds.  She is the team leader in points, rebounds, assists, and steals and sits second on the team in minutes.
