Greyhounds Ground Eagles in Landmark Conference Top of the Table Clash

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata softball team dropped a pair of games to visiting Moravian University, 20-0 (five innings) and 6-1, Sunday afternoon at West End Field.

Maryn Swank cruised through the first, going 1-2-3 to start the game. In the bottom half of the first, Alex Douglass singled to second but was out going to second on Alison Superka's fielder's choice.

The Greyhounds scored twice in the second on a sacrifice fly and an error by the Eagles. A two-run blast over the fence in center doubled their lead in the third.

They plated six runs in the fourth, including four on a grand slam, before adding a ten spot in the fifth.

Jessie Hunt was two for two on the day, while Claire Thomas and Dani Berlin both went 1-2 with a double.

The teams traded zeros in the first, with the Greyhounds scoring a run in the second on an RBI single to left. They added three more in the third, and the Eagles trailed by four.

Thomas singled left, Reagan Goldsmith came in to pinch run and advanced to second on Hunt's infield single. Abby John pinch-ran for Hunt and Emily Eutsey was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Lauren Fisher pinch-ran for Eutsey, and Caleigh Love singled to shortstop to drive in Goldsmith while Fisher was thrown out at second. Juniata couldn't get any more runs the rest of the inning as Berlin struck out and Kay Magill flew out to center.

Back-to-back solo home runs by the Greyhounds in the seventh were the final runs of the game.

Juniata will travel to take on Lebanon Valley on Wednesday at 3:00.
