Juniata Swept In Final Regular Season Doubleheader

Juniata Swept In Final Regular Season Doubleheader

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Juniata College softball closed out its regular season schedule Thursday at Elizabethtown College in a doubleheader.  The Eagles fell 3-0 in game one and then dropped game two 6-2 to move to 10-16 overall on the season.  Elizabethtown improved to 20-16 with the wins.

Junior Meghan Decker (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) went 3-for-5 on the day.  Juniata outhit the Blue Jays (16-13) in the doubleheader but errors plagued the defense. Kelsea Decker (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) received the loss in game one.  The junior struck out three in six innings of work, giving up just one earned run.

Freshman Aly Smith (McVeytown, Pa./Mount Union) struck out three batters of her own after pitching 5.1 innings in game two without giving up an earned run.  She also batted well, going 3-for-6 with a double.

With no games remaining on their current schedule, the Eagles enter the waiting period.  Juniata will need either Susquehanna or Moravian to sweep in their final Landmark doubleheaders this coming Saturday in order for Juniata to make the conference tournament over Scranton or Catholic.
