BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Juniata College softball was held to a combined seven hits over two games and dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Landmark Conference rival Moravian College, both by 8-0 scores, Saturday afternoon at Blue & Grey Field.

Four different players recorded singles in game two of the twinbill, with Juniata (9-20, 1-9 Landmark) getting runners as far as second base on three occasions.

The Eagles' best scoring opportunity came in the second inning, as both Meghan Decker (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) and Ali Vogatsky (Johnstown, Pa./Central Cambria) opened the frame with singles. However Moravian pitcher Jenna Carmon retired the next three batters, including one strikeout, to get out of the jam.

Moravian posted single runs in the second and fifth innings, but plated six runs in the sixth on three hits and a pair of Juniata errors. Jenn Dalickas put three runs on the board with her home run to right field, the first of three homers she would belt over the course of the afternoon. Taylor Mihalik cracked a two-run round-tripper later in the frame.

Kelsea Decker (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) struck out five Greyhound batters over her five-and-a-third innings in the circle for Juniata, allowing eight runs, only three of which were earned, on six hits and two walks.

Carmon finished with a four-hitter, striking out eight Juniata batters, in the complete game win.

In game one of the twinbill, Moravian pounded out eight runs on 10 hits in the shutout victory.

The Greyhound's Carmon started the first game of the doubleheader, fanning six Eagles in the three-hit complete game win. Katie Schroeder (Kempton, Pa./Kutztown) went 2-for-2 in the game with a pair of singles, while Meghan Decker stroked a single into right field in her lone recorded at bat.

Moravian scored single runs in the second, on a Dalickas home run, and in the third. A six-run uprising by the Greyhounds in the fifth put the game away, with two-run homers by Cassie Ernst and Dalickas doing most of the damage.

Rachel Smith (Martinsburg, Pa.) got the start in the circle for Juniata, allowing eight runs, all earned, on 10 hits.

Juniata closes out the 2012 regular season on Tuesday, April 24, against Penn State Altoona.
