HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College senior Tara Carl (Duke Center, Pa./Otto-Eldred) has been named the Landmark Conference Softball Player of the Week, for the week ending March 22, 2009.
Carl helped Juniata post a 2-2 record for the week, including a doubleheader sweep over Drew University in the squad's Landmark Conference opener. She hit .533 over four games with eight hits in 15 at bats, and scored four runs while driving in two.
Carl slugged the first home run of her career to help the Eagles defeat Drew in game two of the doubleheader, and extended her hitting streak to seven games.
Juniata is currently 9-5 overall, 2-0 in Landmark Conference play. The Eagles return to action on Thursday, March 26, when they host Penn State-Altoona in a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
