HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College softball team has been selected as the number one seed and host for the 2009 ECAC Division III South Region Softball Tournament, which will take place on Saturday-Sunday, May 9-10, in Huntingdon, Pa. 

Joining Juniata in the four-team, double-elimination will be no. 2 seed Centenary College (N.J.), no. 3 seed Bethany College (W.Va.), and the winner of a play-in game between no. 4 seed Misericordia University and no. 5 seed Frostburg State University. Misericordia (25-14) will host Frostburg State (26-17) on Wednesday, May 6, at 4:00 p.m. 

Saturday's schedule begins with Juniata facing the Misericordia-Frostburg State winner at 10:00 a.m., followed by Bethany (23-19) versus Centenary (24-12) at 12:00 p.m.  The losers of the two opening round games will play in Game #3, an elimination bracket game, at 2:00 p.m.  Game #4, Saturday's final game, is a winners bracket game between the victors of games 1 and 2, and is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. 

Sunday action begins with Game #5 at 10:00 a.m., between the winner of game #3 and the loser of game #4. The Game #4 and game #5 winners will meet at 12:00 p.m., and will play again at 2:00 p.m. if necessary. 

There will be no admission charge for games during the two day tournament. 

Juniata recently completed play in the Landmark Conference Softball Tournament, earning its first post-season berth since 2004. The third-seeded Eagles lost their opening round game to second seed Susquehanna University, 5-1, but rebounded to down fourth seed Catholic University, 2-0, in an elimination game. Juniata was eliminated from the tournament with a 3-2 loss to Susquehanna.
