Eagles Log Final Pre-Championship Marks at Paul Kaiser Invite

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- The Juniata men's track and field team competed in their final tuneup before next week's Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Saturday's Paul Kaiser Invitational at Shippensburg University. The day saw four personal records achieved from Juniata runners, including Caleb Massare, John Redos, and Lincoln Riddle.

Juniata competed in six total track events, including the 4x100-meter relay, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 400-meter hurdles, and 5000-meter event.

The team of Zion Gomez, Caleb Massare, John Redos, and Lincoln Riddle logged Juniata's third 4x100-meter time of the season. The team claimed 10th place with a time of 45.15.

Riddle set a new personal best in the 200-meter dash with his time of 22.87 to give him a 16th-place finish from the field of 75. He reduces his previous best by two-hundredths of a second, previously set at the Messiah Invitational in mid-April. Gomez also logged a time in the race, grabbing 63rd place with a time of 25.44.

Massare finished the 400-meter hurdles in 59.54 for a 17th-place finish and a new personal record. His previous best was a 1:01.51 set at the Messiah Invitational.

The 100-meter dash saw Redos set a new personal best with an 11.63 that slotted him in 22nd place of the 56 competitors. He takes 0.11 seconds away from his previous best set earlier this month at the Shippensburg Mid-Week Meet. Redos also set a PR in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.49, which put him in 35th place out of 59. His previous best was a 53.86 set at last week's Coach P Invitational at Moravian University.

Ellis Kline ran the 5000-meter race and earned a 35th-place result with a time of 18:02.14.

Juniata's field competitors took part in four field events, including the shot put, javelin throw, hammer throw, and discus throw.

Barrett Walters, Brenden Nauman, and Luke Bittner each logged marks in the hammer throw on the day. Walters had the team's best throw with a mark of 47.38 meters to finish in sixth place from a field of 45. Nauman followed with a mark of 37.80 meters to finish in 24th. Bittner was 39th with a 27.31-meter throw.

This trio also competed in the discus throw, and Walters again had the Eagles' best mark. A throw of 40.74 meters earned him 13th place from a field of 57. Next was Bittner, with a throw of 30.19 meters to finish in 35th place. Nauman logged a throw of 20.72 meters to finish in 47th place.

Redos, Nauman, and Redos logged shot put marks. Redos had the team's best throw, a 10.34 mark to finish in 38th from a field of 59. Nauman was right behind with a 10.29-meter mark in 39th. Bittner finished in 45th place with a 9.10-meter mark.

Walters was the lone representative for Juniata in the javelin throw, and he threw 50.75 meters to finish in 11th place out of 39.

Juniata returns next Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7, for the Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Moravian University.
