Riddle Sets Program's Third-Best 400-Meter Time at Ship Mid-Week Meet

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- The Juniata men's track and field team competed at the Ship Mid-Week Meet at Shippensburg University on Wednesday. The day was highlighted by Lincoln Riddle's effort in the 400-meter dash that earned him the third-best time in program history. 

Riddle clocked in at a 49.91 in the event, which put him fourth place out of 23 competitors and 1.07 seconds down on the program record set by Timothy Breya at Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2010. Caleb Massare also competed in the race for the first time as an Eagle, and he claimed 17th with a time of 54.12. 

The Eagles competed in three other track events, including the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, and the 1500-meter race. 

Riddle, John Redos, and Zion Gomez each competed in the 100-meter dash. 

Riddle claimed 17th from a 28-competitor field to set a new personal record of 11.63. He previously set an 11.90 at Millersville Metrics to open the month of April. Redos also set a personal best in the 100-meter dash with an 11.74 to claim 18th. He takes six hundredths off his time of 11.80 at Susquehanna's Jim Taylor Invitational in March. Gomez took two hundredths off his first 100-meter time of the season, finishing in 25th with a time of 12.20. 

Redos, Massare, and Gomez each logged a time in the 200-meter dash.  

Redos led the way for Juniata with a 24.00 to finish 22nd in a field of 35. He set a new personal best in the event, reducing seventh hundredths of a second from his time at the Messiah Invitational this past weekend. Massare set his first 200-meter time for Juniata, finishing in 27th with a time of 24.42. Gomez set his best 200-meter time of the year so far, as he finished in 30th with a time of 25.18.  

Ellis Kline logged his first 1500-meter event time for Juniata, finishing in 21st place with a time of 4:48.95. It's a new personal best for Kline in the event. 

Juniata competed in six field events on the day, including the long jump, triple jump, and hammer throw, discus throw, javelin throw, and shot put.  

Barrett Walters set a personal record in the shot put by 1.48 meters to a 12.00-meter mark to finish in 11th place from a field of 24. Luke Bittner also competed in the event and finished 19th with a mark of 8.71 meters. 

Bittner set a personal record in the discus throw with a mark of 30.50 meters to finish in 11th place. He improves on his previous best of 29.92 meters set at the Ed Fry Invitational at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in April. Brenden Nauman was right behind in 12th place with a mark of 29.85 meters.  

Walters, Nauman, and Bittner each competed in the hammer throw as well. Walters claimed fourth place out of 18 in the event with a mark of 45.57 meters. Nauman went 37.81 meters which earned him the tenth place. Bittner rounded out Juniata throwers in the event, as he finished in 17th with a throw of 23.95 meters. 

Redos competed in his first javelin throw for Juniata. He finished in 10th place with a throw of 33.89 meters. 

Jordan Auman competed in his first meet for Juniata and was involved in two events; the triple jump and the long jump. His triple jump was 12.22 meters which earned him ninth place in a field of 13. Auman's long jump attempt with 6.02 meters for a 17th-place showing. 

The Juniata men's track and field team returns this weekend on Friday, April 21st, and Saturday, April 22nd, as they compete at Moravian University's Coach P Invitational.
