Walters Lands Two Podium Places at Ed Fry Invitational

INDIANA, Pa.- The Juniata men's track and field team competed in the Ed Fry Invitational at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday. The day was highlighted by Barrett Walters snagging a pair of podium finishes in the javelin throw, and the discus throw. 

Walters finished second in the javelin throw with a mark of 54.11m, his best mark of the season in the event.  

He also snagged third place in the discus throw with a mark of 41.27 meters, a new personal record for him in the event. He improved his mark by 3.54 meters following his 37.73-meter throw last week at the Millersville Metrics. Luke Bittner also competed in the discus throw event, finishing in 11th of 19, competing with a throw of 29.92 meters. It is a new personal record for him, as he improved by 2.39 meters on his mark from last week. 

Bittner also threw in the hammer throw and shot put. His hammer throw earned him an eighth-place finish among 11 competing with a mark of 26.28 meters. His shot put mark was 8.54 meters, good enough for 16th place in a field of 19. 

Zion Gomez logged times in two track events, including the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. He finished in 24th place out of 30, competing in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.40. He finished in 25.33 in the 200-meter dash to earn a 27th-place finish. 

Ellis Kline logged his first 3000-meter race time for Juniata, finishing in fifth place with a time of 10:36.09. 

The Juniata men's track and field team returns to competition next Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15, for the Messiah Invitational at Messiah College.
