Indoor Season Concludes with Landmark Champs at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata men's and women's track and field teams returned to Susquehanna on Saturday, this time to compete in the Landmark Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Kaylyn Walters (Port Royal, Pa. / Juniata) began the day as the first Eagle to compete, claiming 18th place in the long jump with a distance of 4.26m. Nandee Correia (Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg) would then earn 13th place in the weight throw, with her best distance being 10.67m. Emily Vogt (Fairfield, Conn. / Fairfield Warde) was Juniata's first runner of the day, finishing fourth in the 5000 meter with a time of 19:09.53.

Later in the day, Walters took 13th in the triple jump, with her best mark being 9.37m. Correia then took fourth place on her own, throwing 10.67m in the shot put. Rebecca Christophel (Three Springs, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon) was the final Juniata representative for the women. She took 11th place in the 400 meter with a time of 1:05.58, and then finished 18th in the 800 meter, clocking in at 2:42.62. These performances would net the Eagle women eight points, placing them seventh in the overall standings for the meet.

Ellis Kline (Corvallis, Ore. / Corvallis) and Evan Thomas (Ebensburg, Pa. / Central Cambria) began the day for the men, both competing in the 5000 meter. Thomas was ninth with a time of 16:26.60, while Kline was 18th with a time of 18:38.10. Wyatt Ledeboer (Orefield, Pa. / Northwestern Lehigh) would then take 11th place in the long jump, with his best mark being 5.40m. Barrett Walters (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata) and Brendan Nauman (Myerstown, Pa. / ELCO) then competed in the weight throw, earning 8th and 12th place, respectively. Walters threw 12.78m, while Nauman threw 11.51m. Ledeboer then competed in the 60 meter, along with Zion Gomez (Chesapeake, Va. / Grassfield). Gomez was 14th, clocking in at 7.53 seconds, while Ledeboer was 15th at 7.56 seconds.

Gomez and Thomas would then team up with Andrew Donlan (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona) and Ari Tendo (Ottawa, Canada / Beaconsfield (Quebec)) to run the 800 meter relay. The group finished fifth with a time of 1:41.16.

Donlan finished 11th in the 400 meter with a time of 55.54 seconds. Finally, Donlan, Tendo, Thomas, and Gomez reunited to take sixth in the 1600 meter relay, clocking in at 3:51.27. The results netted the Juniata men three total points, earning them seventh overall in the meet standings.

Today's event concludes the indoor track & field season for Juniata, with both teams now preparing for the outdoor season, which will begin on March 25th with the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University.
