Men's Tennis Open Spring with Conference Win Over Etown

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's tennis team opened up the spring and Landmark Conference action with an 8-1 win over Elizabethtown College on Saturday evening following precipitation in the morning 

Arsen Tabaldyev and Ross Conway got things started with a first doubles win by an 8-4 score. Adrián Di Benedetto Vásquez and Basile Gandon won 8-3 in second doubles, while Ezenna Emuka and Utsav Deravariya won third doubles 8-7, 7-5 in the tiebreaker. 

Tabaldyev swiftly defeated his first singles opponent 6-1, 6-0, while Gandon swept his third singles opponent 6-0, 6-0. Conway played in fourth singles and maintained the pace to a 6-2, 6-3 win. Arthur DeYoung played in fifth singles, earning a 6-4, 6-1 win, while Dillon Murphy won in sixth singles 6-4, 7-5. DiBenedetto de Vasquez suffered a tiebreaker defeat in second singles 6-2, 2-6, 7-10. 

The Juniata men's tennis team will host Hood College in nonconference action on Friday at 4:00 pm ahead of the team's spring break trip to the UTSA National Tennis Center in Florida.
