WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Juniata men's tennis team traveled to Penn College this afternoon but were defeated 6-3 by the Wildcats.
Nate Whelan (Point Pleasant Beach, Nj / Point Pleasant Beach High School) and Keisuke Maeda (Tokyo, Japan / Nihon University) won 8-0 at third doubles, while William Michelson (Old Mystic, Conn. / Stonington) and Seth Strawser (Richfield, Pa. / East Juniata HS) fell 8-3 at first doubles and Ezenna Emuka (Houston, Texas / William B. Travis High School) and Utsav Dhir Deravariya (India / Sunway University) lost 8-2 in second doubles.
In singles play, Whelan won in fifth 6-0, 6-0, and Deravariya in sixth 6-2, 6-2. Michelson lost 6-2, 6-2 in first singles, and Strawser lost 6-4, 6-2 in second singles. Maeda and Emuka also lost in third (6-0, 6-3) and fourth (6-3, 7-6, 7-3), respectively.
The Juniata men's tennis team faces Penn State Altoona this Wednesday, September 29, for a 4:00 pm match.
