Men’s Tennis Opens Landmark Play With Win Over Moravian

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's tennis team began Landmark Conference play against Moravian on Saturday afternoon at Raffensberger Courts. The Eagles had a resounding 8-1 win over the Greyhounds.

 

Both second and third doubles had identical 8-2 wins. At first doubles, Roy Liberman (Montevideo, Uruguay/EIHU) and Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) had to battle with Moravian's Matt Tuorto and John Wylie but were able to come away with a 9-7 win.

 

In singles play, Polisena picked up his first win of the season as he knocked off Tuorto 6-1, 6-1. Liberman won his fourth match in a row and eighth of the season with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Giovanni Lombardi. Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) improved to 7-3 in 2016 with a 6-0, 6-4 triumph against C.J Widdenfield. Other winners included Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) and Daichi McAuliffe-Uchida (Wantage, N.J/High Point Regional HS).

 

The Eagles travel to Scranton next Saturday to play the Royals. Match time will be at 1 p.m.
