Men’s Tennis Picked First in Landmark Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md.- For the second straight year, the coaches of the Landmark Conference have voted the Juniata men's tennis team to come out on top. The Eagles received 78 total points and seven first place votes.

 

Coming in second was Goucher with 68 points and two first place votes. The Eagles defeated the Gophers in the Landmark Championship last season. Moravian was selected third with 51 points. Merchant Marine is fourth with 37 points. The complete poll can be found at the bottom.

 

Juniata rolled through the regular season in 2015 as it posted a 17-2 record and 8-0 mark in the Landmark. The Eagles captured their first conference title with a 5-3 win over the Gophers. First year head coach Chauncey Nixon takes over the reins from two-time Coach of the Year Jason Cohen. The Eagles have five of six singles players returning at the 1-6 spots, including 2015 Landmark Player of the Year Dean Polisena.

 

Juniata begins its 2016 season on February 19 at Salisbury. The Eagles open conference play on March 26 at home against Moravian.
