Eagles Meet Crusaders for Landmark Showdown in Huntingdon

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College men's tennis team defeated five more opponents last week to improve to 13-0 on the year. The Eagles will put their undefeated record on the line in a Landmark Conference battle with Susquehanna University Wednesday, April 9, at 3:30 p.m. Conversely, the Crusaders at 3-10 so far this season and 0-3 in league matches after an 8-1 loss to U.S. Merchant Marine Academy last Saturday.

 

Reigning Landmark player of the week senior Justin Wisniewski (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) is leading Juniata with a 15-4 overall singles record and a 13-0 record since the start of dual match play. In doubles play with sophomore Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) the pair are 10-3 in dual match play and 7-3 over the last 10 matches.

 

Freshman Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) is close behind Wisniewski with 12-1 record at No. 1 singles in dual match play having only dropped five singles matches all year. Polisena and sophomore Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) are 7-5 together at the No. 1 doubles slot and Moore is 11-1 in dual match singles, with all 11 wins at the No. 5 position. The two earned back-to-back Landmark player of the week awards March 10 and 17.

 

At the No. 3 singles position, senior Elliott Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) is 9-4 during dual matches. Perow and sophomore Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, Mass./Worcester) has been the most dominant pairing for the Eagles with an overall record of 11-1. The duo is 10-0 at the No. 3 doubles position and 1-1 when playing at No. 2.

 

Juniata has claimed the last three matches when facing Susquehanna and has taken the last two meetings each by 9-0 scores. Since the foundation of the Landmark, the Eagles hold the series edge over the Crusaders 5-1.
