HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College men's tennis team is having the best start to a season in program history. The Eagles are currently 8-0 on the year and stand atop the Landmark Conference with a 2-0 league record. Juniata will try for yet another win this Tuesday, April 1, at 4:30 p.m. when they host regional opponent Penn. State-Altoona on Raffensperger Tennis Courts.
The Eagles are coming off a 9-0 sweep of Messiah College for their third flawless victory of the year. All told, Juniata has only dropped nine positions in eight matches and never more than three. The Eagles are 19-5 across all three doubles positions and the pair of senior Elliott Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) and sophomore Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) are on a seven match win streak at the No. 3 position.
Also streaking is senior Justin Wisniewski (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), freshman Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) and sophomore Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville). Wisniewski and Polisena have both won their last eight consecutive singles matches. Wisniewski and partner Bryan Gregory (Glenn Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) are 10-5 on the year in doubles play and have won seven of the last 10 competitions. Moore has not lost a singles match since the first day of the fall season at the Kenyon Invitational in September. He and Polisena are also on a four-match win streak at the No. 1 doubles position.
Penn. State-Altoona has yet to win a match this year at 0-3 overall. Last year the two teams met for the final non-conference bout of the season with Juniata earning the 9-0 sweep for its 13th win of 2013.
