Three Eagles Earn All-Conference Honors

Three Eagles Earn All-Conference Honors

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College men's tennis team showed vast improvement in the 2012-13 season. This turn-around was due in large part to the efforts of juniors Justin Wisniewski (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and Elliott Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) as well as senior Brice Morey (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro). The trio's solid excellent paid off in the form of a Landmark tournament spot as well as All-Conference honors, which the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

Wisniewski, who played in the No.1 position for a majority of the Eagles' season, was selected as a member of the first team in singles. He earned this spot after going 13-5 overall and 4-3 in conference. His outstanding record was built on two separate win streaks of at least four matches from March 10th-14th, and April 5th- April 9th, respectively.

Perow received second team honors in singles play after going 11-10 in his time on the court in 2012-2013. Perow struggled to begin the season but showed grit and toughness in the latter half of the season, leading to a Juniata playoff berth, and an individual record that was over .500. Perow's best stretch came in April, where he won six consecutive matches in the No. 2 position.

Morey showed leadership in his outstanding play throughout the course of the year and also earned a second team nod from the conference. Morey's 19-3 singles record was the best on the team and the senior proved to be a valuable asset in the No.4 position. At one point, from March 14th, until April 13th, Morey won eleven consecutive matches.

As a pair, Wisniewski and Morey also earned second team selections as a doubles team. The two upperclassmen worked together all season long and lost just seven times all year. In a streak that lasted from March 28th until April 9th, the pair won six consecutive matches.

Wisniewski, Morey, and Perow earned all-conference honors for a program which had none in the previous season and paced a very talented, and deep Eagles team in 2012-13. With Morey graduating Juniata will lose a valuable member of their program, but will rely on the capable talent of Wisniewski and Perow in 2013-14.
