Juniata Awaits Playoff Matchup With Scranton

Juniata Awaits Playoff Matchup With Scranton

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata men's tennis team will begin just the fourth playoff appearance in program history with a match against top seeded Scranton, Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles' 2012-2013 playoff berth represents just the second postseason opportunity for Juniata since entering the Landmark Conference.

The Eagles will be looking for redemption after a regular season loss against Scranton in which they were swept, 9-0. In order to pull off the upset Juniata will need the leadership of senior Brice Morey (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro). Morey came close to a win in singles play in the first matchup between the two teams, rallying to take the second set of the match before falling in the third.

Juniata will be hungry for a win after a loss to Catholic, Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fought hard but could not come up with the victory. Despite that loss, however, the Eagles were a dominant 7-2 in the month of April, including a six game win streak. They will look to re-gain that form and upset the top ranked team in the tournament.

It will not be an easy task, however. Scranton was 6-1 within the conference in regular season play and is in the midst of a six game win streak of their own. The Eagles will need to play at their best to steal a victory from the Royals.

The two teams will face off at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, April 23rd as the Eagles try to make a statement in the Landmark Conference.
